As some of you may know, I work at a yogurt shop. It is self serve yogurt.. since this is the bay area and we have a yogurt shop on every block, you're probably familiar with how it works. You get a cup, dispense the yogurt, put on toppings and your cup is weighted. The cost depends on how much your yogurt/toppings weighs. A couple of weeks ago there was this mid-aged Chinese man that came into my store and got a little drop of yogurt. It costed about $1.20.. I swear he got close to nothing, seeing as our yogurt is a bit pricier than other places at .39 cents an ounce. I promise you it's worth it though. Our yogurt is milk based rather than water based. ANYWAY.. After the dude paid for his droplet of yogurt, he asked me "doesn't this cup weigh anything?" I replied, "Yes, it does but it doesn't weigh that much." Then he gave me an attitude, mumbled some shit and said "Some people probably weigh their spoon too, huh." I was pretty annoyed. He came back today but I didn't recognize him.. I just greeted him like I would any other customer. He stomped into the store and went right to the cups. He brought my co-worker an empty cup and said "I would like to know how much this cup weighs." We weighed it and it turned out to be .5 ounce. The man insisted on getting .5 ounce subtracted from the weight of his yogurt because thats "half ounce less of yogurt he's getting and it's not fair." My coworker agreed to subtracting the half ounce and said "that's only like .2 cents though so it doesn't really matter." The chinese guy argued, "NO, IT'S 20 CENTS." Holy shit, it's 20 cents. What can you do with that these days. I can find u 20 cents off the floor if you want. Don't forget I wasn't apart of this convo.. I was busy doing my own thing. I got pretty annoyed since my coworker was being too nice to this customer so I told him that maybe he should bring his own container next time since we have a special discount for customers who bring their own container. We weigh it and subtract it the container weight from the total and we also give you an additional 10% off. Cheap ass people these days. I think I'm cheap too but that's seriously pathetic. Why dont you just pour the yogurt directly on the scale then? |
